This original hand painted linocut shows off one of my favourite flowers, the Tasmanian Waratah, but with a twist. This is Telopea Truncata in its rare yellow form. I have been lucky enough to be up close with a bush laden with blooms, and was inspired to capture the colours. This linocut is part of an ongoing botancial series of mountain flowers.
I hand carve the lino, and print with oil based printing ink onto Stonehenge paper. For this design, I've chosen the fawn coloured Stonehenge which gives the piece a warmth and depth while allowing the flowers to glow. Colour and highlights are added with watercolour, each piece individually hand painted.
The image size measures 30cm high (12") x 20 cm wide (approx 8 1/4") with the paper larger as shown. Each artwork is signed and numbered with the edition limited to 10. This piece is shipped flat, wrapped in cello and mounted on foam core.
