              Stand
This large linocut features a stand of monolithic boulders from the alpine landscape at the top of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington in Hobart. This alpine landscape has been a rich source of inspiration for me. I love the slant of the light as it captures the face of the rocks and makes the plant-life glow with colour. I love the depth of colour created in the shadows and crevices between the rocks too. I tried to capture the unique atmosphere of the place in this piece.
This linocut is printed with oil based ink on Stonehenge paper. I have printed only a small edition of 10 prints. Each is hand painted individually with watercolour. The image size (excluding signature, title and room for the ‘sky’) is approximately 45cm h x 60 cm w with the paper measuring 56cm x 76cm.
