Segment, Mt Field is the first in a series of linocuts exploring the alpine landscapes of Mt Field National Park in southern Tasmania. As the name suggests, Segment is one section of a number of different linos I’m using like building blocks to create images of the landscape. Segment shows the base of a mountain rising from snow gums, up a rocky rise covered in shrubs and small trees. I love the colours in the Mount Field landscape. Compositionally, I’m enjoying the abstraction that the segment of landscape, without sky, creates.
This linocut measures approximately 30cm (12") wide by 40cm (18") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 10. I print using oil-based relief printing ink on Stonehenge paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.
This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
