Shop Linocuts and Editioned Works › Ascent 1

Ascent 1

A$300.00

‘Ascent 1 ‘ uses the first section from a large 4 panelled linoblock called ‘The Ascent’. As the name suggests, each panel represents a ‘step’ upwards towards the top of a rise. This piece, a small edition of only 5 available prints, represents the first step of the ascent.

The initial inspiration came from driving through the central highlands of Tasmania. I love the light coming in at an oblique angle to the mountain, highlighting the jagged rocky outcrops erupting from the bush. The light also highlights the trunks of the eucalypts, making them bright against the deep undergrowth around them.

This linocut measures approximately 20cm (20") wide by 30cm (12") high, not including signature. The paper is larger still, as pictured. Each print is numbered and signed with this being a small edition of 5. I print using oil-based relief printing ink on Stonehenge paper. Each linocut is then individually hand painted with watercolour.

This unframed linocut will be shipped securely in a mailing cylinder.
